DECORATING THAT EMPTY SPACE
Decorating a blank and empty space in a room can be challenge especially if the space is too large or small. Does that mean you leave the empty space open? Absolutely not!
Here are a few ideas in decorating to make the most of filling that empty space.
Multifunctional Furniture. A unique piece of furniture will cover up the open space in a way that will also increase the element of uniqueness and storage. Like the Copenhagen coffee table below.
Or this big beautiful denim Union Jack flag occasional chair.
And than why not add a lamp table to the corner of an empty space, such as the Vermont reclaimed oak lamp table to create the perfect reading corner.
Add Colour & Personal Touch. By adding something as simple as a rug you begin to create a focal point of which things will revolve around. A rug also gives depth to the character of a room.
Don’t Forget Your Walls. In todays market place there are so many different things you can do to make a wall shout out, blend in with the surroundings or just create something to suite your own taste. Paint is a quick fix to create a feel in a room. Wallpaper can add a bit more design and texture to your room. Or add pictures to the wall, just remember if grouping frames of a similar size they work out better in even numbers and different sized frames work better with odd numbers. It’s easiest to lay them out on the floor to arrange before hanging.
Mirrors, Mirrors. Not only will they add light but will also create an optical illusion of more space. Try a Naples solid oak cheval mirror, like the one below. Or a wall mirror or maybe even a cluster of mirrors to get the look of a vintage, eclectic vibe.
REMEMBER. When you start decorating, make sure every item you pick serves a purpose. Don’t overload the empty spaces with items for the sake of it. Plan it by coming into one of the Better Furniture showrooms for ideas and inspiration.
