Is Fishing the perfect holiday?

Is Fishing the perfect holiday?

Whilst working here at Better Furniture I have had many conversations about fishing, but it always seems to be the men that fish and the ladies stay at home or shop. However, I have found out it doesn’t have to be like that.the perfect holiday....

With the fishing season looming I have started to ask myself – Could fishing be the perfect holiday and is it for everyone or just men which seems to be traditional?

Last year was the first time I had ever been fishing and had a fishing holiday. My Husband has always loved fishing but for me all I could think was BORING.

Why would I want to sit watching a bit of plastic bobbing on a river or lake waiting for it to go under the water only to catch a fish and chuck it back again, WHATS THAT ALL ABOUT!!!!!

I was adamant unless the sun is shining and I could sit and read or play a game then there was no way i was going anywhere near a lake or river,  I have to be active and fishing was pointless, but I have to think is fishing the perfect holiday for us all?

One sunny day last year I took my husband, I sat and watched him and a family member having a competition and it was so funny I forgot all about reading or playing a game. I wanted to have a go and to join in to see what all of the fuss was about.

On my first cast out I caught a fish, the funniest thing about it was that our relative hadn’t caught one fish yet. (I think he was set up to catch Shark not Carp).

TO MY SURPRISE I LOVED IT.

So Is fishing the perfect holiday?

Our fishing holiday was all booked for one week in Boston Lincolnshire. (I have to admit I was dreading it). I had been fishing once now I was going to have a whole week of it, HOW WOULD I COPE.

When we got there we found the most beautiful place called WESTWOOD LAKES.  http://www.westwoodlakes.co.uk  We bought day tickets and fished all day on several occasions. I didn’t care if I caught a fish, the place was amazing! I could have been anywhere in the world.

There was 4 of us so we had competitions on everyday we fished, For example the most fish in one day and the biggest fish for the week. (I won both. SO HAPPY)

fish

The largest fish of the week. I’m the winner

That week was the first week in my working life  that I thought about nothing except EAT IT, TAKE THE BAIT, HERE FISHY FISHY FISHY. I realised that by the end of the week I was so relaxed I was ready to take on the world again.

SO THE CONCLUSION I HAVE COME TO from the question: IS FISHING THE PERFECT HOLIDAY

Fishing can be for everyone and can be the perfect break, especially if you go to Westwood Lakes, We have booked a cabin for this year and even if you are not a fisher person, the VIP cabins have Hot tubs and a veranda to sit on while reading and soaking up the atmosphere, everyone’s a winner!!

I CAN’T WAIT to go this year, I can sit with a glass of wine and read, or i can join in with the competition and fish.

So yes, fishing is the perfect holiday for everyone, whether you are male or female, old or young.

HOT TUB HERE I COME, oh yeah and the all important relaxing and fishing.

Have fun, Laugh lots and enjoy life.See you soon

    Hi Sam,

I have just read your blog, and yes fishing is the perfect holiday!.

I am myself to a fisherwoman and love it. I am going on a fishing holiday myself in just over a week, for the whole week and can’t wait. And yes we will be having competitions, I have myself won the biggest, when fishing with 2 other guys. Result.

    Girl Power 🙂

However I will be roughing it in a bivvy. Here’s hoping for good weather. Sun bathing, ( hopefully), reading, relaxing, wine. oh yes, and fishing.

Glad to hear another fisher woman is on the team.
I’m no longer in the minority.

I’ll give you an update on my biggest catch in 2 weeks time.
    He he 🙂

Hope you have a good day.

    Lucie
