Millbrook Beds was started in 1946 by Walter Croll when he opened a small upholstery and bedding workshop in the Millbrook area of Southampton.
A Little History
Southampton was known for its busy port ,with famous lines such as the Cunard, P&O and Union Castle sailing daily into Southampton. The interiors of these vessels were known for their elegance and luxury and Britains industry demanded the highest of standards and workmanship.
These standards were upheld by Walter Croll and the craftsmanship produced from his workshop was fast earning him his reputation, which gained a great many discerning customers. When the Union Castle Line awarded Millbrook a contract to refurnish and carpet their entire fleet, the success of the young company was assured.
Years on and Millbrook Beds has grown by employing the same expertise and skills used on the luxury liners.
High quality and their eye for detail has gained them an enviable reputation. In my opinion a bed to excel all expectations.

A Few More Reasons to choose Millbrook Beds
A Double Pocket Spring System
A double stack of individual hand nested pocket springs provide you with superior support. The top layer of springs absorbs the majority of the weight whilst conforming to the body shape.
The bottom rows resist more gently and add to the overall support and longevity of the mattress, all springs together work in harmony to ensure total support.
With Zonal edge springing, providing extra strength to the sides of your mattress.
Two rows of firmer springs on the sides also ensures no ‘roll off’ or sleep disturbance.
Hand Side stitching
Every Millbrook mattress is traditionally hand-side stitched by Millbrook’s senior upholsterers
which secures the outer springs to the border at the top.
This prevents ‘roll out’ and is extremely labour intensive to create. The effects of this on their mattresses is quite dramatic. It prevents the springs from distorting and extends the effective sleep area right up to the edge.
The fully sprung edge of the divan base has two support levels with zonal areas and torsion springs. These have a higher gauge steel spring giving a supportive foundation for the mattress.
The divan bases are made from solid timber and are set on smooth running solid metal casters.
The drawers run on ball bearing steel action runners giving a very smooth action when opened.
